Draw
One card from the stock or the open one from the discard.
Meld
Lay down sets and runs of three or more – or add to them.
Discard
One card away – turn over. First to empty their hand wins.

How many cards does everyone get? 13 in German Rummy – two decks plus six jokers, 110 cards. Basic Rummy deals 7 to 10.How many points to open? At least 40 in German Rummy, often 30 at home. Going out in one turn needs none.Can you swap the joker? Yes, after your opening – with exactly the card it stands for.How do you count the points? 2–10 at face value, pictures 10, ace 11, joker 20.
